SYO Tuition Scheme introduced to provide tuition for members with no tutors for their instrument. |

The first SYO chamber group, a brass quintet, gives its first performance at Dunman High School on 12 Nov. |

SYO participates in 14th International Festival of Youth Orchestras and the Performing Arts in Rome, Italy. For the trip to Rome, SYO also commissions its first work: Dance Suite by Leong Yoon Pin.

SYO inaugurated as Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO) to reflect its status as the national youth orchestra. |

First concert at the Esplanade Concert Hall as part of SYF 2003. |

SNYO makes its first foray into jazz/pop, sharing the stage with the Jeremy Monteiro Band and others at the Dick Lee and Friends fundraising concert for the Church of St Ignatius. |

Dr Kee Kirk Chin appointed as Chairman SNYO Management Board.
The SNYO Secretariat is established, replacing the post of SNYO General Manager. The Secretariat is headed by ADCCAM. |

Inaugural Music Mentor Programme in partnership with UBS and NUS. The inaugural concert is held at the University Cultural Centre. Hajime Teri Murai, Director of Orchestras at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, is the inaugural music mentor. |

SNYO makes its debut at NDP 2004. |

Lim Soon Lee appointed as resident conductor/music director. Assessments are introduced for members in the Main Orchestra. |

SNYO participates in the 34th International Youth and Music Festival in Vienna, Austria, sharing 1st Prize in the orchestra category with the Golden Sail Orchestra of Beijing, China. |

2nd Music Mentor Programme held at the Victoria Concert Hall. John Farrer, principal conductor of the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra is the music mentor for this edition. |

SNYO launched its International Artiste Series, replacing of the Music Mentor Programme, on 7 Mar at the Victoria Concert Hall. |

The Singapore National Youth Training Orchestra (SNYTO) is renamed Singapore National Youth Sinfornia (SNYS). |

SNYO launched its new website on 22 May. |
