LIM Meng Keh (Mr)
Percussion Tutor, Singapore National Youth Orchestra
Lim Meng Keh studied Timpani/Percussion and graduated from the Victorian College of Arts in Melbourne (Australia) under the Singapore Public Service Commission Scholarship in 1984. He was awarded the Bill Hyde Percussion Prize upon graduation and has since been working as a Timpanist/Percussionist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
Besides playing in the SSO’s regular concert series since 1984, he has also performed solos with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (1984) and the Singapore Central Band (2000). He has also performed in premiers by Singapore composers in the New Music Form, the Singapore Dance Theatre, and Japanese works in composers exchange with the Japanese Composer Association. He represented Singapore in cultural exchanges with the Fukuoka City Orchestra (Japan).
Besides performing, he has also given workshops in schools and percussion presentations as part of the SSO Music Experience series and was invited to be a percussion faculty member for the South East Asian Youth Orchestra/Wind Ensemble Camp held in Thailand.
Meng Keh has been the percussion tutor for the Singapore National Youth Orchestra since 1985. He is also a percussion lecturer, lecturing in Lasalle College of Arts (1994-2003) and the National Institute of Education (2003-present).
He is also Band Director for Dunman Secondary School since 2007 obtaining Certificate of Distinction, and Cedar Girls’ Secondary School from 1998 to 2005.
