ABOUT OUR ALUMNI

Alumni of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra have gone on to become full-time musicians in Singapore and with orchestras around the world. Many are also educating the next generation of musicians and playing significant roles in the growth of Singapore’s vibrant cultural scene.

In addition, we have many alumni who have chosen to pursue a career outside of music and have also grown to become accomplished leaders and practitioners in their fields of work. In the recent years, SNYO alumni have once again gathered to play orchestral music with our current members at the SNYO Alumni Jam: Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5 (Esplanade Concert Hall, June 2022) and had also performed in concert at SNYO Concert ‘The Planets’ with alumni players (Esplanade Concert Hall, June 2019).

SNYO Concert ‘The Planets’ with alumni players (Esplanade Concert Hall, June 2019):

“I was with the SNYO from 2003 to 2005. I had my first concert with SNYO in 2003 playing Holst’s The Planets. Sixteen years later today, it’s super memorable to be able to perform the same piece again with SNYO under the baton of Maestro Joshua Tan.”
Huang Wei Han Nicholas SNYO Alumnus (Trombone)

“Attending rehearsal was nostalgic, bringing me back to my school days. It was exhilarating to see a fully packed Esplanade Concert Hall and to share the proud moment standing on stage with the SNYO again after 10 years.”
